History
The Intellectual Property Association of Thailand (IPAT) was originally established on 8 November 1972 under the name of the Trademark, Patent and Copyright Association of Thailand. However, on 31 August 1995 its name was changed to its current form.

IPAT is an independent association that is purely funded by membership fees and income derived from holding seminars and training sessions.

The areas of interest of IPAT are all encompassing in respect of intellectual property. Committees have been established to oversee trademark, patent, copyright and other intellectual property issues.

IPAT works very closely with government agencies such as the Department of Intellectual Property and the Department of Export Promotion, holding seminars, training sessions and conducting joint studies on pressing issues. IPAT is also very active in lobbying for changes in legislation, procedures, regulations and practice in the enforcement of intellectual property rights.
